Human Rights Conference in Bury St Edmunds
A free Human Rights Conference, run in conjunction with Amnesty International, is being held by the University of Suffolk at West Suffolk College.
The conference, on Tuesday April 25, will run from 10 am to 3.30pm and will include lectures and workshops on different aspects of the Human Rights Act.
The speakers include Owen Jones from the ‘HOPE not hate’ campaign; Graham Dossett, a consultant on policing and human rights and Cambridge activist Liesbeth Ten Ham, they will both look at different aspects of the Human Rights Act and the work of Amnesty International in trying to uphold the Act. Robin Herne, University of Suffolk course leader for Religious Studies & Ethics, will look at the ethics of personal identity and how this can be enhanced or limited by civil rights.
