Employer breakfast at the West Wing, Ickworth House

Dr Hall addressing delegates

Employers explored the Strategic Role of Creativity at a breakfast event, hosted by West Suffolk College, in September at the West Wing, Ickworth House.

Delegates were treated to a delicious breakfast, as well as hearing from inspirational keynote speaker Dr David J Hall.

Dr Hall gave a talk entitled Think Again! The Strategic Role of Creativity, encouraging delegates to unleash the power of ‘thinking afresh’.

Dr Hall says that a culture of creativity can help a business attract and retain the best staff and enhance added value. He gave examples of techniques that release creativity – introducing innovation into the process of generating ideas.

Delegates were asked to reflect on their own issues and see how creativity could be used to solve problems. They were introduced to the thinking process of the human mind, the patterning systems that exist as well as how playfulness can be used in business.

There was an opportunity for networking both before and after the talk.

Sales and Marketing manager Emmanuelle Durand said: “Dr Hall is an inspirational speaker and the presentation he delivered was both entertaining and very useful. He defined creativity as the generation of novel and useful ideas, which really put things in perspective.”
